Guitarist Mike Abraham makes his debut in the P23 lineup at the Elbo Room show tonight.

Yes... We've decided to substantially expand P23's energy production possibilities, and Mike's sound and vibe are a natural fit for the band.

His MySpace bio sums him up quite nicely: "tasty licks", stylistic versatility, and devastating sex appeal. Mike has made a name for himself in the Bay Area with the traits, performing and touring with everyone from 60's rock-icon Donovan, post-apocalyptic jazzers Mitch Marcus Quintet, and afrobeat all-stars Aphrodesia.

P23 will be exploring it's avant-garde side as a featured performer at the DeYoung Museum's closing night party for the "Viviene Westwood: 36 years in Fashion" Exhibit.

The celebration will also include poetry, films, dance, tours, lectures, cocktails, food, artist demonstrations, and interactive art projects.

P23's first full length CD "P23 Live" has arrived! To celebrate, the band is throwing a big bash at the Elbo Room and inviting a bevy of friends to join them on stage.

Cuban singers Jesus Diaz (QBA), Fito Reinoso (Ritmo y Armonia), and Erick Barberia will take the front line for a set as the band unveils new material. Along with a couple of original "cuban r&b" tracks, P23 has taken their trademark sound- tight arrangements, original beats and funky electronic soundscapes- and colloraborated with these master singers to create some exciting new adaptations of popular cuban folkloric songs and rumbas. DJ Platurn will man the turntables during it all, keeping dancers grooving the entire night.

The last time P23 teamed up with J. Boogie's Dubtronic Science (www.jboogie.com) opening at the Elbo the house was packed! P23 had so much fun they just had to invite him down again. Be expecting folks like emcee Raashan Ahmad(Crown City Rockers) and saxophonist David Boyce (Broun Fellinis) to be in the mix as well. Come join the party!

P23 has been playing Reno/Tahoe every couple of months and making lots of new friends in the Sierras.

This St. Patrick's Day, they're excited to be teaming up with Reno funksters Sly Buford to host the biggest party in town at the Green Room.

Stay tuned for the release of P23's first full length CD. Recorded at a pair of stellar Elbo Room shows, "Parallel 23 Live" showcases the band's intense grooving improvisational energy on 9 new tracks and features many guests.

On Jan. 13, P23 will be playing with J. Boogie's Dubtronic Science (www.jboogie.com) at the Elbo Room.

The P23 guys are hopping in the van again and hitting some new territory up north: Huboldt Brews in Arcata, CA (12/1) and Mobius in Ashland, OR (12/9). Looking forward to the fresh air and hooking up with some of our friends from Humboldt's Afro-cuban Dance and Drum Camp (link) where Colin has been an instructor the last few summers.

The band is also excited about sharing the stage with some other great bands this month, including Kneebody, Black Quarterback (feat. members of the Crown City Rockers and the Broun Felinis) as well as Sol' Jibe. Check the shows page for details.

Parallel 23 will be exploring its electronic side at the Summer Music Conference in San Francisco. The festival features artists who have had great success using technology in music: Q-bert, Groove Armada, and DJ Krush to name a few. P23 will once again be featuring DJ Platurn (11pm @ 1015 Folsom).
